As part of our commitment to both high quality music-making and to developing musical opportunities within the local community, we are absolutely delighted to announce that we have recently appointed Emily Singh as our first ever Assistant Conductor.
Emily will have both rehearsing and performing responsibilities – including taking up the baton for Weber’s Der Freischutz overture at our May concert. She will also be involved in chamber concerts, community development activities and brings an exciting, fresh perspective to SELO as a whole.
We had a very high number of applications for the Assistant Conductor role, with extremely talented applicants from all across London and the South East. We had the pleasure of rehearsing Brahms’ Haydn Variations with the final four, shortlisted applicants and were delighted that Emily was the unanimous choice.
We’re looking forward to working with Emily over the course of the next 18 months.
